HOME decor and gift shop, Ma Maison, is celebrating its first year anniversary in the Littlebrook Courtyard.
Owner Philip Shone, says, “It’s been an interesting year – I’m getting a lot of repeat customers and special order customers, which is great. I’m still sourcing ethical and environmentally-friendly products from places like Germany and Sweden and I’m still offering unique gifts like ceramics, handcrafted by an artist from Bath.”
The arrival of Ma Maison heralded a new era for the Littlebrook Courtyard, which has been transformed over the past year by Philip and the other shop owners in the courtyard, to create a new community space in the town centre.
“It’s been absolutely amazing. We all get on well together – we all have the same goals as far as the image for the courtyard. It’s a great place for people to meet, relax and to enjoy. We’ve developed a community now, which is fantastic.
“We want Littlebrook to stand out – the monthly artisan market has taken off – we’ve had lots of positive feedback. And people have said that we’ve done a really good job of cleaning the place up and creating a new space in Melksham.”
About his hopes for the future of Ma Maison, Philip said, “More customers! I’m always looking for new suppliers – things that are different, unique and interesting. I like Fairtrade, recycled and up-cycled products.
“I’ve recently got new silk scarves and ladies handbags in from India – all Fairtrade and all hand sewn by traditional method.
“People know that I have unique items that are ideal for gifts, so hopefully word continues to spread and more people come to visit Ma Maison and the businesses here in Littlebrook.”
