MELKSHAM’s long-running community choir, Macapello, is holding a concert at the Baptist Church on Old Broughton Road at 7.30pm on Wednesday 20th March.
The concert is free to attend, with a retiring collection to help raise funds for structural repairs in the church. There will be refreshments during the interval.
The choir will be singing a selection of their very varied repertoire of heartfelt and uplifting songs from all around the world and there will be a guest spot by up-and-coming local singer-songwriter Eve Caston.
Choirleaders Dave King and Lisa Otter-Barry said, “We have been using the Baptist Church to rehearse and perform in for the last five years; it’s a great space and we have always been made very welcome, so we wanted to show our gratitude by giving a concert to help raise much-needed funds for the building – so we hope we get a big turnout.”
The 30-strong unaccompanied choir is open to anyone; there are no auditions, no previous experience is required and there is no need to read music. “We have gone from strength to strength since our formation in 2012 and had a full house for our last concert in the church hall, a Ukraine benefit in 2022,” says a spokesperson for the choir. Come and be entertained for a good cause!”
