DOROTHY House Hospice Care and Melksham Community Larder have received donations from Melksham’s Freemasons.
£1,130 was given to Dorothy House and £600 to the Community Larder; the funds were raised through a charity race night that took place in October at the Conservative Club.
“The race night was fantastic and we had a really good turn-out with around 70 to 80 people,” says the Freemason’s secretary Mike Lines. “The Masons raises quite a lot of money locally. We are in the process of giving Melksham Christmas Lights Appeal £250 and we raised £130 in a raffle recently.
“Another thing we do, which not many people know about, is donate to Teddies for Loving Care. This is Wiltshire-wide where any child that goes into hospital for an operation is given a teddy bear which has been paid for by Masonic donations; we have just given £250 for that.
“We want to do more fundraising events and involve more people. The race night was the first one of those events. Other things we hope to do include a quiz night, possibly a casino night, bingo and a clay pigeon day with a lunch afterwards; any suggestions are all welcome.”
