Following some successful days of clearing and weeding in St Michael’s Churchyard in the past two years, Saturday 21 May has been set as the next date to continue the good work.
Already with help from the church wardens, council staff, Friends of St Michael’s Church and Melksham Town Team, the group made a huge difference in the grounds of the St Michael’s Churchyard, clearing away dead branches and weeds, and removing moss and ivy off gravestones.
The next phase is to continue clearing the churchyard in preparation for Britain in Bloom judging in July. On Saturday 21 May local people are invited to join in at St Michael’s Church between 1pm and 3pm. Some tools will be provided, but bring gardening and weeding tools if you have them.
Time Credits will be awarded for every hour spent, and these can be redeemed for cinema tickets at Melksham Assembly Hall. Anyone who is interested can get in touch on 01225 704187 or email miriam@melkshamtown.co.uk
Earlier this month, 16 people came together to tidy the town for May’s Tidy Town Day. “It was a glorious day and the volunteers made a huge difference to helping the town look great,” said organiser Miriam Zaccarelli.
