The Bloom in Melksham group is working with the Town Team, Wiltshire Council and Melksham Town Council to keep Melksham looking great with regular Tidy Town Days. Usually the first Sunday of the month, May’s Tidy Town Day will be on Sunday 8th May, in order to avoid the bank holiday weekend.
Volunteers will meet at the Riverside Club, near Waitrose at 1pm, and anyone who cares about keeping Melksham beautiful is welcome to join in.
There will be litter picking and general tidying and weeding in the area, with the added benefit that all volunteers will earn a ‘time credit’ for each hour spent helping.
When people give one hour of time to particular projects in Melksham they are rewarded with one time credit which can be spent at Melksham Assembly Hall, on DVD hire at Melksham Library and sessions at Matt Hill’s Systema Health and Wellbeing class on the Avonside Enterprise Park. So far, 145 people are signed up in Melksham and each Tidy Town Day brings more people to the scheme.
To join in with the next Tidy Town Day on Sunday 8th May, people are invited to show up at the Town Hall in suitable clothes at 1pm. Tools and gloves will be provided and tea and cake will conclude the afternoon at 3pm.
