MAYOR of Melksham, cllr Adrienne Westbrook, has shown her support to local charity, Evie’s Gift.
The charity was set up by Bryan and Patsy Clover, in memory of their daughter Evie, who died in January last year after being diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of 13.
In the last issue of Melksham News, it was reported that a book written by Evie at the age of 12, has been published to raise money for the charity.
After reading the story about Evie’s book, ‘Written by the Stars’ – which tells the story of young girls breaking years of tradition to make their own destiny – cllr Westbrook invited Evie’s father Bryan to meet her at the Town Hall.
“It was the second or third story I read in the paper and I was so very moved when I read it,” said cllr Westbrook. “The book is about something I am very passionate about – female equality and believing in your dreams. It’s a long-lasting legacy for Evie, that I hope inspires any young girl that reads it.
“I wish Evie’s Gift all the best and I hope the book raises lots of money.”
Evie’s Gift offers support to families whose children have been admitted to hospital. Evie’s book is available to purchase from the charity’s website for £7.99: www.eviesgift.org.uk.
