Cadets and staff at 2385 (Melksham) Air Cadets would like to express their thanks to the people and businesses of Melksham for donations made over the past couple of months.
The squadron did its very own Christmas Songs quiz for the first time this year which raised £350. The lucky winner received their £50 prize money a couple days before Christmas. If you participated in the quiz and would like to know the correct answers please get in touch with the squadron.
As usual the squadron also participated in the Melksham Christmas Fayre which raised a further £300. At the fayre the squadron held its usual stalls including bottle raffle, Where’s Wally and a book stall.
Also the weekend before Christmas the cadets were invited into Waitrose Melksham for two days of bag packing. Over the course of the weekend customers donated over £700 which was excellent for a weekend’s work by a few cadets.
The money raised over the past few months will be used to purchase expedition kits for the cadets. This will enable the squadron to kit cadets out in high quality gear when participating in Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. The squadron has been involved with the DofE for many years with lots of cadets achieving Bronze awards. The expedition kit includes new tents, backpacks, sleeping bags and mats, compasses plus much more.
