THIS year’s apple pressing day will take place this Sunday, 29th September, in King George V playing field from 1pm until 3pm.
Organisers say, “Be prepared to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in. The apples will all need to be washed, chopped and pressed – it’s very much a community effort.
“Bring along apples from your garden plus a few empty bottles or containers, and take some delicious freshly-pressed apple juice home with you. If you don’t have any apples but would still like to be involved, that’s fine too. Just come along and join in. Please bring empty milk cartons and other suitable containers.
“If you already have an apple press of your own, feel free to bring that along too and help your neighbours turn their apples into juice.”
The event takes place in King George V playing field alongside the splashpad by the pavilion, during the medieval fair, which is the climax to a weekend of celebrations for the 800th anniversary of Melksham’s market charter.
