MELKSHAM could double in size with thousands of new houses being built alongside the planned new A350 bypass. That was the warning from local MP Michelle Donelan.
She was speaking at last night’s online Melksham Area Board meeting where Wiltshire Council’s ‘A350 Melksham Bypass Public Consultation’ was launched.
She said Melksham could ‘potentially double its size’ if a new bypass was given the go ahead.
She wanted the community to have its say over the bypass proposals and urged that Wiltshire Council’s current month-long consultation into the bypass be extended because of the lockdown.
Options for a new bypass were unveiled including possible routes to the East and West of the town alongside other options to improve the existing A350 route rather than build a new bypass.
