A COUPLE who live on Longford Road are keeping the Christmas spirit alive and dazzling with their spectacular Christmas lights display.
Gwilym and Shirley Watson have been decorating their home for the past seven years and in the process, have raised thousands of pounds for Alzheimer’s Support – a local independent charity supporting people to live well with dementia in Wiltshire.
“One year, about four years ago, we raised £2,250,” Gwilym told Melksham News.
The lights display takes Gwilym between three to four weeks to prepare, with work beginning in the first week of November. Visitors from across the town and beyond flock to visit the local attraction on the road that for many years was famous for its lights display.
“One time the whole street used to take part, but over the years for different reasons, people have been unable to take part,” said Gwilym.
“I still do it as I’m a big kid at heart! I like to see the kids’ faces – they love it!”
