CURVES in Avonside, Melksham, is organising various events throughout March to raise money for Dorothy House Hospice Care.
Staff at the women-only fitness centre are no strangers to fundraising. Last year they raised £576 for special needs nursery Stepping Stones, and during October raised an impressive £1,700 for Breast Cancer Care.
Manager Sue Armstrong said, “We have lots going on throughout March and we hope to raise as much money as possible for Dorothy House. Especially as it’s a special year for the charity as they celebrate 40 years of providing care for so many people.
“There will be a coffee morning on the 7th March and Pink Box Boutique will be selling lots of lovely items such as bags, scarfs, skincare products, artisan food and lots more. They will also be donating 10% of sales made on the day to Dorothy House.
“We would love to see all our members there but non-members are also very welcome to come along and support.
“We are planning a social evening and an Easter egg hunt so there’s something for everyone!
“We will also be holding a raffle so if anyone would like to donate a prize, we would be very grateful.
“Once again, we will be wavering our joining fee during March when customers sign up. In place of the fee, a donation to Dorothy House would be very much appreciated.
“I know a lot of our customers have been affected by cancer in some way and have had the help and support of Dorothy House at such a difficult time. They really do a wonderful job and so many people rely on them.
“Every penny we raise would help them, so we haven’t got a target amount. If we raised a few hundred pounds, we would be delighted.”
“This is also a fantastic opportunity for you to join the Curves community and with spring on the way, let us help you finally shift those few stubborn pounds. Think, new season, new you!”
