ROSELYN Clarke reflects on a busy month for the society and looks forward to the coming weeks.
Members had joined in with the Over 55’s Forum Community Day at the Assembly Hall enabling other organisations and the public to see what the club offers.
Some members will visit Holland to see the tulip fields and the Keukenhoff Gardens and then others will be busy arranging flowers for the Rotary’s Flower Festival in St Michaels Church in May. In between this you might find a small bouquet of flowers at the end of the month as the club joins in with the Lonely bouquet day, when we hope people will be delighted to pick up some lovely flowers from the most unusual spots just for them to enjoy.
Chairman Caroline Christopher welcomed Alison Finch an area Demonstrator from Blandford who then gave her demonstration ‘Well Read’. She had chosen some of her favourite books to illustrate in flowers including Wind in the Willows, by Kenneth Graham; A tree Grows in Brooklyn (Tree of Heaven) by Betty Smith; The Great Gatsby by F Scott-Fitzgerald; Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder and The Far Pavilions by MM Kaye. It was a really enjoyable afternoon. Denise Smyter gave the vote of thanks.
