HOW THE FAWNS STARTED

"Why not invest some money in girls' rugby?"

Back in summer 2022, girls were flying through the minis section with nowhere to land—no pathway, no team, just a whole lot of untapped potential... so we built something!

We launched girls' rugby hubs with just four players. Gave them a fresh new sponsored T-shirt that meant they belonged somewhere.

Fast-forward a few months and we had girls, aged 6 to 16, turning up to try, play, and have fun. The following season, we formed our first U12s girls-only team—the first Melksham girls' squad in over a decade.

WHO ARE WE

We are the parents, the volunteers, the heartbeat of this club. United by our passion for rugby and the development of girls in sport.

JOINING THE FAWNS & PLAYING

• Games & Training: Training takes place on Wednesday evenings 6:00–7:30 PM. Games are usually Sundays from 12:00 PM onwards.
• Communication: All team info and parent updates are run through the SPOND App.
• RFU GMS Registration: Free to play for the first 45 days! To officially play matches, registration on the RFU Game Management System is required within 45 days.
• Playing Kit: Training kit can be purchased directly through VX3. Match shirts are provided by the club for games!

For girls navigating the whirlwind of puberty, rugby offers a place to land. It's where changing bodies become sources of strength, confidence grows through challenge, and every player finds a team that sees and celebrates her.

We're proud to create a space where girls feel safe, empowered, and encouraged to ask questions, take risks, and grow. Because when girls are backed through the tough stuff, they don't just get through puberty—they get through life!
