THE Melksham Gardeners’ Society hosted a talk on natural remedies from the hedgerow and garden by Lyn Blythe, BSc (Hons) who is a medical herbalist and physiotherapist.
On behalf of the group, Cary Hopkins said, “This was a hugely informative presentation by Lynne of how various plants from the local countryside and our own gardens can supply us with simple preparations that can help us with common ailments.
“Judging by the quantity of questions she was asked, (we had our largest attendance with 51 people in the hall), it intrigued the audience and I know that many left with leaflets and plans to implement some of the suggestions – we have already started drinking Hawthorn Tea at home. Many thanks to Lynne for a highly engaging talk.
“This was followed on Sunday 3rd October by a trip to RHS Wisley. We were fortunate with the weather as it was a fine, dry day (apart from a very short, sharp shower in the afternoon) and the gardens looked fantastic in the Autumn sunshine.
“Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 26th October at the Rachel Fowler Centre at 7.30pm. The speaker is TBC and members will be advised as soon as possible.”
Entrance fee is £2.00 for guests. For more information, please contact Tel: 01225 350740 or email: melksham_gardeners@live.co.uk or find us on our Facebook Page – Melksham Gardeners Society.
