MELKSHAM in Bloom winner, Bruce Petty, has received his award as the overall winner of this year’s Melksham in Bloom.
Mayor of Melksham, cllr Terri Welch, handed out the awards to all the category winners as part of the Open Flower & Produce Show held at Assembly Hall. Bruce Petty received the Sheila Wilkinson Cup for overall winner of the competition.
The cup was only created last year to recognise Sheila Wilkinson after she served the town for over 30 years as a councillor and in recognition of her enormous contribution to the community of Melksham. Bruce also won the cup last year.
There was a special award for the Best Floral Gold Display (in line with the Royal Horticultural Society theme in celebration of their 50th anniversary). The cup was won by Arthur Ephgrave.
There were also several new categories this year, including Best Water Feature, Best Shop Window Display, Best Courtyard. There was also a separate section for schools and Residential Homes/Retirement Homes to enter.
A special thanks was also made on the night to Leekes and Whitehall who sponsored the competition.
