A LOCAL lad from Melksham will be taking part in the Dorothy House Bubble Rush on 25th June with his family to celebrate his 8th birthday.
The countdown to the 2017 Dorothy House Bubble Rush has started. Over 1,200 people have already signed up to take part in Dorothy House Hospice Care’s frothiest fundraiser, the Bubble Rush 5k fun run on Sunday 25th June at Castle Combe Circuit near Chippenham and entries are still open. This is only the second year a Bubble Rush has been held by Dorothy House and it is already one of their biggest fundraising events.
Liam Tucker, has his 8th birthday on 25th June and his Mum, Dad and brother, Amanda, John and Jamie Tucker from Melksham decided what better way to celebrate than taking part in the Bubble Rush on the same day. They’ve invited six of Liam’s friends, their parents and Liam’s family to come and have fun at the event and enjoy a picnic and some birthday cake.
Liam’s mum Amanda said, “We can’t wait to celebrate Liam’s 8th Birthday party at the Bubble Rush event, as he has complex needs we know he’ll love playing around in the bubbles and foam with his friends and family. We also chose this event for his party as we wanted the money to go to Dorothy House because it is a great local charity and both my husband and I have lost loved ones and friends to cancer in recent years.”
If you fancy joining in the fun, entries are open at www.dottybubblerush.org. Entrants will embark on a 5km run, walk, skip or dance along a route filled with huge clouds of rainbow-coloured foam. Don’t miss out, sign up soon.
The Bubble Village will be party-central with a pre-event warm up routine, live entertainment, face painting, two bouncy castles and lots of food and drink stalls, so there’s fun for participants and spectators alike. There are no age restrictions and the route is child-friendly. The circuit is suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs and prams. It’s not a race; the aim is for everyone to pass the finish line frothy and smiling! There will be three waves, the 12pm wave is now sold out but the 1pm and 2pm waves are available and registration starts at 11am at Castle Combe Circuit.
Early bird places are sold out but standard price places are available now. Entry for children aged 16 and under costs £10 and adults (aged 17+) cost £25. All paying participants will receive a T-shirt and medal. There is no minimum sponsorship amount but participants are encouraged to raise as much as they can for Dorothy House Hospice Care to help fund vital patient care.
