A MELKSHAM author has released his first book based on a dream he had as a boy.
David Richards was inspired to write his science fiction novel after a vivid dream he had when he was just 12 years old. The story follows a boy from Cornwall who ends up on the other side of the universe.
David said, “I don’t normally remember dreams but this one, when I was 12 years old, stayed with me. It was so different I thought that it might make a good Sci-fi series. I then thought, I’d better write a book first, so over the past few years I have worked on a concept that included the dream. I have written it over the last nine months a bit at a time, when not at work.
“The story is about a boy called Martin who is 12 and living with his parents in deepest Cornwall. He discovers a shiny ball of light in the woods that surrounds his parents’ house. For some reason he is attracted to the ball and cannot help himself but as he does so, the ball goes into him and knocks him down.
“Years later Martin is involved in a crash where he suddenly gets better within minutes. He finds out that the ball of light was a sentient being. The ball can change into different things and ends up changing into Martin’s granddad. The being is in fact all the energy in the universe that is changing from one form to another. Granddad explains that he has seen good things in humans and wants to help people who are in difficulty.
“So from then on, Martin’s new job is to go to people who ask for a miracle and find out if they deserve it or not. If so, he has to work out how to perform the miracle without it looking too much like one. The other thing that Granddad adds is that it is not only people on earth who ask for miracles, he could end up anywhere in the universe! There is fun and action as his new life and job proves to be out of this world.
“It is an easy book to read and to enjoy even if you are not a Sci-fi fan.”
The book is available on Amazon and retails at £1.87 in Kindle format.
