Melksham Music and Drama (MMAD) will be celebrating 50 years of entertaining in Melksham next year and plan to mark the milestone by staging a popular musical, directed by Ali Turrell.
To enable the club to put on the very best show they can they will require addition funds so that the town of Melksham can enjoy a truly spectacular show.
MMAD members, under the direction of Ali, put on an additional show in June to raise funds for the 2019 musical. This was celebrating songs from past shows, the new show which will be performed in September, and some new and challenging numbers.
The group says, “MMAD are a talented bunch of entertainers who always aim to impress their audience. Those that attended the evening enjoyed a musical extravaganza with a light supper and a raffle. Watch out for more fundraising shows as MMAD hope to put on a few more before the big musical next year. The last musical that MMAD performed was Grease in 2014.
“Justin Haggett, who is well known to regular attendees, is directing this exciting show, which is visiting a new genre of music and is something completely new for MMAD.
“The show, ‘First Date’, has a rock music theme and has some brilliant songs and dances. Even if rock music isn’t what you would normally listen to please come and support this group – if you have attended previous shows you will be amazed at how diverse MMAD are as they reach the heady heights of some of the music worlds classic rock numbers.”
The show dates for ‘First Date’ are Friday 14th, 15th, 21st and 22nd September. Tickets are already on sale on www.ticketsource.co.uk or from Melksham Tourist Information Centre. Look out for their posters too.
