STUDENTS from Melksham Oak School attended Wiltshire’s biggest careers fair, which was organised by Melksham MP, Michelle Donelan, on Friday 14th October.
The event showcased local talent, skills and job opportunities in the Wiltshire area and took place at the Olympiad Leisure Centre in Chippenham. Michelle Donelan MP said, “I’m delighted to have been able to showcase so many Melksham-based businesses and organisations at my very first careers fair, helping to bring together local talent and enterprise with those looking for a quality career path, to re or up skill, or even find a new challenge.”
The careers fair included a range of local businesses and organisations for students to meet and learn more about from Melksham including Knorr- Bresme, Avon Protection, Goughs, Wiltshire Police, Autonomy Care Group, Waitrose, Aldi, Tesco and others. The MP said, “From Knorr-Bresme, to Avon Protection, to Goughs, to Dick Lovett and many more, Melksham’s huge range of employers were well represented!
“We were joined by pupils from Melksham Oak, giving our local young people the opportunity to discover not just high-quality career options but those which are right here on our doorsteps, in such a wide range of industries. A huge thank you to sponsors Wiltshire College, Arralis and Wavin, and all of those employers who gave up their time to attend.”
Echoing the positive opportunity to learn more about local businesses in Melksham, a Melksham Oak student said, “It was a good [opportunity] to see what businesses we have in Wiltshire because a lot of them I had no idea we actually had [here].”
