Sixth formers from Melksham Oak Community School are celebrating their A-level and post-16 exam results.
Of the 67 students, 33 are going to university, 12 onto apprenticeships, 12 into employment and eight have chosen a gap year.
Amongst the standout results were:
- Brook Rockley, the school’s first student to have secured a degree apprenticeship with Wiltshire Police.
- Ruby Scott secured Distinction* in both Creative Digital Media and Business alongside an A* in Criminology (100% in the 2 x 8hr exams) and is going on to Cardiff University to study Psychology with a professional placement year.
- Cally-Marie Parfitt secured an A* in Sociology with As in both RS and Psychology and an A* in EPQ goes on to study Education and Psychology at the University of Southampton.
- Beth Knight secured an Apprenticeship in Childcare with Snapdragons nursery who have been supporting the school’s careers education programme.
- Isabella Eley secured a top A* in Sociology and excellent grades in History, English Language and an EPQ and goes on to History at the University of Warwick.
- Caleb Durrant secured excellent grades in Maths, Economics and Chemistry and is going on to complete an Engineering Degree Apprenticeship with Siemens who are a supporter of the school’s careers education programme.
“These results are particularly strong given that this is only the second year that grading has returned to pre-pandemic standards,” said the school which is part of The White Horse Federation.
“To help ensure all students were as prepared as possible for their exams, Melksham Oak Community School has left no stone unturned in providing the very best pastoral and careers support. Our careers lead, Ms Tranter, together with Mrs Cooper and Mr Phillips has ensured our students are best placed to achieve their personal best.”
School principal, Haris Hussain, said, “I am so proud of all our students who have worked tirelessly to achieve some fantastic results. Our careers programme has been tremendous in highlighting opportunities to students that they would otherwise have not known existed!”
