YEAR 9 students at Melksham Oak School are to receive life-saving CPR instruction and basic first aid training from South West Ambulance Service staff.
The training day has been organised by emergency care assistant, Lindsay Bown, who works for the South West Ambulance Service, who said, “I decided to organise this day as I believe all the students will benefit from it.
“I strongly believe that basic life support, general first aid and CPR should be taught in both primary and secondary schools. These skills can save people’s lives.”
The year 9 students at Melksham Oak have a busy day planned for them. “We will be teaching the students the primary survey, CPR, the recovery position and general first aid.
“We have paramedics, emergency care assistants, community first responders, a nurse and two critical care staff from the air ambulance attending.
“We hope to be bringing an ambulance and a critical care rapid response vehicle to the day, so that all students in the school can have a look in.”
The training day will be on Friday 30th June. “We hope that the students and the school enjoy the day and above all, learn lifesaving skills,” said Lindsay.
