Students from Melksham Oak have been praised by the school principal for their ‘tremendous resilience, perseverance and endeavour’, as they celebrated their A-level, BTec and GCSE results, following a tough two years of education in the pandemic.
Last week, students collected their GCSE results, a week after sixth form students received their A-level and BTEC results.
School principal, Alan Henderson said, “Congratulations to our year 13 students who have produced an outstanding set of A-level and BTec results at Melksham Oak this year. Despite huge disruption to their education over the last couple of years and the challenge of sitting external exams for the first time since year six, they have shown tremendous resilience, perseverance and endeavour to do as well as they have.
“We are proud of what everyone has achieved and we wish them all the success in their future endeavours. Additional recognition should go to the following students who have achieved some extraordinary results, many of whom are off to Russel Group universities: Daniel Key, Oscar Wyatt, Casey Stewart, Sarah Clark, Josh Conboy, Tomy Chudley, Rhys Waters, Izzy Nichols, Ben Phillips, Evie Archer, Lucy Shiers.”
The year 11 students also celebrated their GCSE grades last week, in the first exam season where external boards have resumed with marking, following exam disruption due to Covid.
Echoing her fellow students’ concerns, Melksham Oak student, Cally- Marie said, “I am elated and kind of still in shock. I was convinced I was going to fail after Covid.”
Commenting on the GCSE results, principal Alan Henderson said, “Following a set of outstanding A-Level results last week, Year 11 students at Melksham Oak have done brilliantly well and achieved a terrific set of GCSE results.
“We are incredibly proud of everything our students have achieved today and whilst we are not comparing this year’s results to previous years, we are delighted that so many students have done so well. Their achievements are even more remarkable when you consider the incredible disruption to their education over the last couple of years and are testament to their resilience and determination.
“We can’t wait to welcome them back into Oak Sixth Form in a couple of weeks. Particular praise should go to our top performing students; Alicia Siekiera, Cally-Marie Parfitt, Isabella Eley, Will Richards, Callum Wilkins-Sprules and Poppy Nichols.”
With regards to the A-level results, Alan Henderson, added: “Over a quarter of all grades were A* or A. 55% A*-B. 76%A*-C.
“Some achievements we’d like to highlight include: Josh Conboy: 2 Distinction* and A; Tom Kimmit: 2 A*s and A; Maisie Brown: 2 As and an A*; Casey Stewart: 2 A*s and an A; Daniel Key: 3 A*s; Oscar Wyatt: 2A*s, Distinction* and an A; Izzy Nichols: 1A* and 2 As; Tom Chudley: 1A* and 2 As.

I’d also like to thank our parents and wider community for their continued support. Your cooperation is an invaluable part of everything we do at Melksham Oak.
“Finally, I’d like to wish every student graduating today the best of luck and every success in their next steps. You all have very bright futures ahead!
“Our students will be moving on to a wide range of destinations, including a number of top UK universities, studying Musical Theatre at the Italia Conti Academy, and starting an apprenticeship with the MOD!
