WITH Easter just around the corner and summer on it’s way, The Melksham Open Gardens event is fast approaching.
It will take place on Sunday 21st July, in aid of The Children’s Society and the local organisers are looking for people to volunteer to open up their garden for visitors to enjoy and admire the fruits (and flowers) of their labours.
“We have several regular and loyal gardeners who take pleasure in chatting with visitors about their respective gardens and we would like even more gardeners to join in this very worthwhile and enjoyable event,” says one of the organisers Lesley Windebank from the local Children’s Society Committee.
“This has become a tradition now in Melksham, along with the cream teas provided on Place Road and raises a significant amount of money for The Children’s Society. All arrangements are made by the local committee, including publicity, insurance, teas and ticket sales.”
