THE Royal British Legion in Melksham launches this year’s Poppy Appeal at the end of the month.
Poppies will be available from shops, pubs and clubs from Monday 28th October until Saturday 9th November.
Volunteers will also be selling poppies, lapel badges, regimental crosses, plain remembrance crosses and other Poppy Appeal items in Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Aldi from Monday 28th October onwards.
One of the Poppy Appeal organisers, Trevor Paterson said, “As in previous years, we will be looking for volunteers to man our tables. You can volunteer for as many hours and days as you can spare during this period, and we will be most grateful for any contributions.
“We were very pleased with last year’s collections in Melksham and surrounding villages, where we raised a total of £26,100 – an excellent amount for a town the size of Melksham.”
If there is anyone who would like to assist this year, please contact Trevor Paterson on 01225 899001 or 07884 050097 or e-mail trevorpaterson747@hot mail.com; or contact Ken Graham on 07887 941482.
