Residents from Melksham will take on the London Marathon next month, running 26 miles for various charities.
Jen Ferris and James Taylor are among the residents preparing to run in the event on 26th April.
Jen is running for the charity Breast Cancer Now. Both she and her mum have had breast cancer. She is aiming to raise a minimum of £5,000 and break a Guinness World Record for the fastest time a woman who has had a double mastectomy due to cancer has run a marathon.
Jen said, “Breast cancer has had a real impact on me and I wanted to turn that experience into something positive for others to show there is also hope and life after aggressive treatment.”
James Taylor is running to raise funds for Mercy Ships UK, a faith-based international development organisation that deploys hospital ships to some of the poorest countries in the world, delivering vital free healthcare to people in desperate need.
James said, “This journey is also deeply personal. I want my children to see firsthand what dedication, perseverance and purpose can achieve and to be proud of the effort behind every mile.”
