Children and their families painted pebbles for Melksham Rocks as part of the craft activities at Melksham Messy Church at Forest and Sandridge School on Sunday 23rd September.
Hannah Tarring, Melksham Messy Church leader said, “Our community was this month’s theme, with the children also creating collage postcards, painting Melksham scenes and moulding oobleck – a tactile mixture of sand, cornflour and water. They also worked together to build a Messy Church totem pole.
“The children took their rocks home to hide around the town as part of the popular Melksham Rocks movement, where painted rocks are hidden around the town for children to find, share a photo on the Melksham Rocks Facebook page and re-hide.
“There are also three special Messy Church stones that have been hidden around Melksham – if you find one, please bring it along to our next Messy Church to claim your prize!
“We had a particularly messy one this time – the children loved it and even the adults joined in with the oobleck!
“We explored the theme of our community and talked about a verse from the Bible about mustard seeds – although we can sometimes feel small like the mustard seed, we can achieve great things together!”
The next Melksham Messy Church is Sunday 28th October from 4-5.30pm at Forest and Sandridge. It’s free and includes messy activities (expect to get messy!), worship and celebration, Bible stories and a hot meal.
