THIS year’s Melksham Scarecrow Trail is under way and runs until Saturday 26th April.
It’s the third year the competition has been held in the town and all the proceeds will go towards funding the Melksham Carnival.
Participants can complete a challenge around Melksham shops and businesses and spot a scarecrow in their windows, with the theme of this year’s event being musicals. The trail runs through Bath Road stopping off at Pets Town, Clarkies and Cobblers Bench. The trail goes into the Littlebrook Centre and Bank Street has several scarecrows, which are sited at Sue Ryder, Belle of the Ball Bridals, Midcounties Co op, Tops, the Town Hall and the Factory Shop. Church Street has three businesses involved, the Sewing Basket, Bliss and Fairies Wear Boots. Two scarecrows can also be found at the Samovar in King Street.
On the High Street, Edwards, Hairtex, Gamingalore, All Things Chic, Thorntons and Flowers in Focus are all taking part.
Simon Hedley of CJ’s said, “The last two years we did quite well, so we are hoping for the same this year.”
Those who complete the challenge will be entered into a draw. First prize will win a giant Cadbury egg and an Arthouse cafe voucher. Second prize will win two small Easter eggs and a £5 voucher for CJ’s. Third prize will win one Easter egg and a cat hand puppet. If you want to take part in the trail, forms can be picked up for £1 at CJ’s, Andy York Photography or Candy Jax.
