BLENHEIM House Care Home in Melksham has been awarded £500 for achieving a top three finish in a national competition – and has donated the money to the Melksham Seniors group.
The home in Shurnhold is one of three finalists in The Pinders Heath Care Design Awards. The award recognises the very best developments in all types of care-related property, and acknowledges the contribution made by designers and architects to enhance the well being and quality of life for those in their care.
The awards also recognise the important contribution made by the owners of all types of care home – irrespective of size or category of care. The judges looked to reward quality of care, achieved through quality of design, rather than design alone.
Following a judges’ visit, Blenheim has been awarded a top three finish with the overall winner announced at a ceremony in April that will take place in London. The £500 awarded to Blenheim was donated by the home to Melksham Seniors as the prize money was donated by the competition with the intention of helping a local community project.
At a cheque presentation from Blenheim to Melksham Seniors Helen Short, the life enrichment manager at Blenheim House said, “It is great to be recognised as being in the top three of this award. We pride ourselves on what we do here and to be in the top three nationally is a great achievement. We decided to donate the money to Melksham Seniors as they are a fantastic group that offer the senior people in Melksham a host of activities through different events.”
