A student from Melksham has won the Media and Games Student of the Year award at Wiltshire College’s annual student awards ceremony.
Charlie Farmer, 16, from Melksham, studies at the college’s Chippenham campus and was presented with the award at the Trowbridge Civic Centre last month by paralympic medallist and local champion Stephanie Millward MBE.
The awards ceremony recognised 21 students for their outstanding achievement, dedication and personal progress.
Charlie said the college had given him the space to explore his creative ambitions. “College has been amazing,” he said. “We’ve had the freedom to be ourselves and explore what we love. I’m hoping one day to see my name in the credits.”
Stephanie Millward MBE described the evening as ‘incredible’ and said it was a ‘joy to meet students and hear their stories.’
“I hope they believe in themselves and go on to become the stars they want to be,” said Stephanie.
College Principal and Chief Executive Iain Hatt opened the evening with a message of celebration and encouragement.
He said, “You could feel the pride in the room – from the students, their families, and everyone who’s been part of their journey. This is a milestone moment. Not just for the winners, but for everyone here. It’s a chance to reflect on what they’ve achieved and take that next step with confidence.”
The event brought together more than 100 guests to celebrate learners from every corner of the college.
