LOCAL churches are hosting a day of prayer for the town of Melksham.
The day is to take place on Sunday 6th July and is being called ‘Bless Melksham’. The event is open to all and the churches are asking everyone to join in. Local MP Duncan Hames is to open the day by calling the town to prayer, which will take place in the Market Place between 9.00am and 9.30am.
Duncan Hames said, “Every town in my constituency needs the blessing of its people and I am very pleased to be asked by the Melksham town.”
Barry Scarlett, lay minister for Melksham Team Ministry – a team of three Anglican churches based in and around the Melksham area said, “It promises to be an exciting and important time.
“For years now churches have been praying on a regular basis for Melksham and the surrounding communities. We invite everyone in our town to join in on this special day of prayer. When people really care about a place, then community spirit is strong and everyone wants to make their contribution to bless the town in which they live and work.
“All the churches in Melksham are increasingly working together, and we care passionately about the town.”
