MELKSHAM & District Historical Association will resume their meetings as from this Thursday, 16th September.
They say, “We are opening with a presentation of slides with the title Melksham, Today and Yesterday. As usual it will be presented by Tony Fivash.
“We are taking as many precautions to enable members safety, anti-bacterial gel on entry, widely spaced seating and the hall will be well ventilated. We hope this will reassure members and visitors. Refreshments will be available but once again all care will be taken to reduce handling.
“On 21st October, Gill Butler will be recalling the Melksham shops of her childhood days, sharing the memories they evoke, especially when out with her mother. We will of course do our best to provide illustrations.
“Members will have received the details of our AGM to be held in November, not our usual Ploughman’s supper but hopefully an enjoyable evening none the less.
“On to 2022! We always start the year with a slide presentation and the sub-committee will be working towards that aim at their weekly meetings – subject to be announced nearer the time for our meeting on 20th January.
“So if you are one of the residents of Melksham who love seeing pictures of how our town used to be, well you have a bonanza of three in a row, and visitors are always welcome, for just £1.
“Upcoming meetings will be held on Thursday 16th September, Thursday 21st October, Thursday 20th January – all in the Assembly Hall at 7.30pm.
“Hopefully the rest of next year we will be able to have our usual varied programme of lectures, presentations and outings. We hope to see as many of you as possible on one of these dates.”
