FOLLOWING an operation for a new knee joint and a three month lay off, Melksham’s Town Crier, Peter Dauncey, returned to the competition scene at the Seaton Town Crier Championship.
Peter gained a creditable 5th place, and he and his wife Joan won the shield as ‘Best Dressed Crier and Escort’. Peter said, “I am delighted at my 5th place as I had been off the competition scene since May. Competition is getting tougher as younger criers come along, I am just pleased that I can hold my own against some of the top criers in the country.
“The main object is to promote Melksham both with my shout and by distributing information leaflets about our town, hoping to encourage people to visit. I am now back on my feet, and subject to availability, would like to attend more events in and around the town.”
Peter does not charge for his services, except for appearances at some commercial events. For more information contact him through Melksham Town Hall or telephone 01225 899315 or email peteroyez@gmail.com
