MELKSHAM Town Sound had special guests last week discussing cycling on pavements following complaints about the issue in the town
Pc Barry Dalton from Wiltshire Police was joined by Michelle Donelan – a prospective member of parliament for the Chippenham constituency who asked several questions on the topic to clear up any confusion.
PC Barry Dalton said, “Just to confirm that cycling on pavements and footways is an offence which you can be prosecuted for by way of a fixed penalty notice. Hopefully most people will see the dangers that cycling can cause on the pavement, especially through the town centre and will stick to the roads and cycle routes.
“With regards to cycle safety and cycle routes around Melksham. The Melksham Community Area Partnership group are holding a public forum on Wednesday 3rd September at 7pm in Melksham Town Hall so if you are interested or want to have a say on the matter then please pop along.”
