There is a councillor vacancy at Melksham Without Parish Council following the resignation of Councillor Mary Pile.
An election will be held no later than 31st January 2023 if 10 electors from the Beanacre, Shaw, Whitley & Blackmore Ward request an election; if not the vacancy will be filled by co-option, which means applications will be made directly to the parish council who will appoint the councillor.
The parish council have a copy of a template form for calling an Election which they can send or print out for anyone interested; the format is not prescribed by law, but the template is provided to ensure that all the relevant information is recorded in a single place.
Any requests for election must be returned to the Returning Officer at Wiltshire Council by the 24th November – Terence Herbert, Returning Officer, Wiltshire Council at County Hall and NOT to the parish council/clerk.
