HOW the conscious consumer can make better choices every day.
In the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, local business woman, Sarah Henson, recently launched her new podcast with great success.
The Business of Universal Kindness Podcast is focused on conversations with ecommerce founders whose products are changing the world. By embracing the philosophy of kindness (to other people, the planet and the creatures we share it with), these products are proving to be a better choice for the conscious consumer.
With interviews from Wiltshire based business owners like Chlöe Luxton of Bramley and Charity Nichols of Green Tulip, plus other nationally recognised brands, Sarah discovers why sustainable and ethical choices are the way to go in our consumer led society.
Sarah also finds out what it took for these incredible entrepreneurs to go from just an idea to launching a successful brand that makes the right kind of impact in the world. From home-made products to angel-invested organisations (one founder raised $5.5M in funding to launch her product), the listener gets insider access to the story behind the brand and the people that make it happen.
“I wanted to find out how we can all make better choices in the products we use – from things like laundry detergent to personal care products,” said Sarah. “Since I had my kids 9 years ago, I decided to make more sustainable choices in the products I buy. It started with using cloth nappies because it horrified me the amount of nappies that went to landfill each year, and then it just went from there.
“In the past couple of years I’ve also switched to a plant-based diet and I try to reduce my waste as much as possible. I don’t think it’s about making big changes overnight, but about the small things everyone can do day-to-day that make a big difference over time.
“I work from home as a copywriter so I’m naturally curious to find out what makes people choose one product over another, and I was constantly researching what products I could use that were better for my health and the environment. This gave me the idea for the podcast about a year ago and at first I thought it was a silly notion but the idea wouldn’t leave me alone.
“So, at the turn of 2020, I decided I just had to do it. Obviously I didn’t realise we would be facing a global pandemic come March time, and it’s been quite difficult juggling client work, homeschooling and launching the podcast, but it’s a passion project that I love and it’s been great connecting with these incredible entrepreneurs who have shown resilience and passion in getting their products to market.
“I hope that people who listen will discover new products that they’ll love to use or even be inspired to start their own business creating something that makes a difference in the world. I believe the world needs more people who are willing to think outside the box to make products that are kind and sustainable so there’s a future for our kids”
The podcast is suitable for people who want to embrace a more natural lifestyle by using products that are kind and sustainable. By showcasing companies, products and people who are making a difference in this field, the hope is to spread the word about the choices available to people that can make an impact in the world.
It’s also perfect for new and established ecommerce business owners who want to take their idea and grow a business that makes a difference. By highlighting other people’s journeys into building a mission driven business, the podcast shows what is possible, but also what it takes to go after your dream and create change in the world, one step at a time.
Sarah grew up in Nottingham but moved to Melksham when she met her husband 13 years ago. She started her career as an actress after attending the highly accredited Birmingham School of Acting and had roles in theatre and television over a period of 12 years.
While acting was a great passion, her role as a mother made it impossible for her to continue this career so she turned her hand to online business and studied copywriting. Now she works from home writing emails for mission driven ecommerce companies to help them spread their message and make more sales, because more people using these products means a better future for us all.
