MELKSHAM’S annual fireworks display promises to be better than ever – with a bigger budget and an award-winning team at the helm.
Organised by the Melksham Christmas Lights Group to raise money for the town’s festive display, this year’s fireworks event will be held at the Oakfields Stadium (football and rugby club) on Friday 1st November.
The fireworks display will be provided by Devizes-based Distant Thunder Fireworks, who last month were crowned the winners of the British Musical Fireworks Championship.
Organisers say, “With the largest budget ever, we promise an incredible display by the team at Distant Thunder Fireworks. It’s fantastic that the best in the UK will be putting on our display.”
As well as the fireworks display, which will be fully set to music, there will also be full bar facilities, food, and children’s rides.
There is also a chance to win some cash in time for Christmas, with entry into the annual ‘£1 in an envelope draw’. One person will win £250 in the week before Christmas. You can enter online when purchasing your tickets or on the day itself.
And if that wasn’t enough, all advance tickets purchased are entered into a draw to win £50 – one winner will be randomly selected on the night of the fireworks.

Tickets on the gate cost; adults £7, children (3-15yrs old) £4, family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) £20.
Gates open from 5pm, and fireworks are scheduled to start at 7pm.
Organisers say, “Please note there is limited on site parking and we would appreciate people walking into the site where possible and leaving the parking for those less able.
“Please also help us by alerting elderly neighbours to the event and anyone who may need to make provisions for pets.”
