MELKSHAM’S Covid-19 vaccination roll is continuing to progress, with patients now receiving their second dose of the vaccine.
Local GP surgeries are also making plans to offer a first vaccine dose to patients aged 40 to 49 – but have explained that this is unlikely to happen until May due to vaccine supplies.
“We are currently vaccinating patients in cohort 9 (those aged 50-54) for their first Covid-19 vaccination,” said the Melksham and Bradford on Avon Primary Care Network (PCN) “We encourage all patients to book via the link in a text message sent to them (from accuBook).
“During March and April, our focus is booking patients to receive their second vaccination, this includes all care homes, health & social care staff and the housebound.
“Planning is also taking place to offer a first vaccine to Cohort 10 (40-49 years), which as the Government has announced recently due to vaccine supplies, is unlikely to be before 1st May.
“We will update readers as these plans develop and we have confirmation of future vaccine delivery.”
The local PCN is known as Melksham & Bradford on Avon Primary Care Network, and consists of the three GP practices Bradford on Avon & Melksham Health Partnership, Giffords Surgery and Spa Medical Practice – together they cover a population of c.48,000 residents. The vaccination programme is being delivered at Spencer Sports and Social Club.
