MELKSHAM’S Covid-19 vaccine roll-out is on target to hit 10,000 vaccinations next week, reaching all four priority groups.
And the Melksham and Bradford on Avon Primary Care Network (PCN) has praised all those involved in making the vaccine roll-out a success.
The Network reports, “Across our PCN we have vaccinated 6,500 patients, with a plan to deliver almost 10,000 vaccinations by next weekend, this would mean that we have reached the target of vaccinating those in the top four cohorts by 15th February.
“We have vaccinated all patients in our local care homes and their staff, as well as around 90% of patients living in their own homes, who are housebound.
“We are currently vaccinating our 70-74 year old population as well as Covid-High Risk patients (those who have received a shielding letter).
“We have received overwhelming feedback from our patients with comments such as: ‘brilliantly organised’, ‘the whole operation is a total masterpiece of careful planning and efficient and kindly distribution’, ‘The whole procedure was hugely impressive and well organised’ – the praise goes on to thank all of those staff and volunteers involved, which we would echo with special thanks to all the amazing clinical and non-clinical volunteers.
“We would like to thank our patients for following the national guidance and waiting for us to contact them to offer them their Covid-19 vaccination. We continue to work through our lists, contacting those who are eligible by phone or text.
“Our texts will not ask you for any bank details, but ask you to respond ‘YES’ if you would like a vaccination. We will then send a text with a time and date for your first and second vaccination.”
The local PCN is known as Melksham & Bradford on Avon Primary Care Network, and consists of the three GP practices Bradford on Avon & Melksham Health Partnership, Giffords Surgery and Spa Medical Practice – together they cover a population of c.48,000 residents. The vaccination programme is being delivered out of Spencer Sports and Social Club in Melksham.
