EVERY year between 11th-17th May, Mental Health Awareness Week aims to help raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing issues.
Alison Hill, the office manager at Wiltshire Mind in Melksham said, “Mental health conditions can leave sufferers confused and isolated, in turn leading to profound feelings of despair and even thoughts of suicide – we want to change this.”
There are organisations such as Mind that can provide support through peer support groups and individual counselling.
Wiltshire Mind provides a drop in group session in Melksham as well as Chippenham, Devizes, Malmesbury, Trowbridge and Salisbury. There is also a professional counselling service provided at the Head Office in Melksham.
“It may be that you live with someone who has changed, your son or daughter, or your wife or husband? Perhaps the way they act has changed; this may have been a gradual process with slight changed in behaviour.
“They may feel depressed and think/feel life is different for them; encourage them to seek help. The earlier the help is gained, improves the chances of a full recovery.”
