Following the success of David Nutt’s one-man show at the Art House Cafe, four local artists are exhibiting during July. All of them will be well-known to regular visitors to the cafe.
Andy Bigwood is an artist, author, draughtsman, bookbinder, cartographer and illustrator from Melksham. He has provided artwork and cover designs for a variety of fantasy, horror and science fiction novels and has twice won the British Science Fiction Association’s award for best artwork. His exhibition will contain a mix of fantasy art, local landscapes and historic aircraft.
Joy Williams has lived and worked in Wiltshire since the 1970s but only took up painting when she retired. She mainly works in watercolour and acrylics and paints landscapes, seascapes and still life.
Ann LeCorre also took up painting seriously on retirement, taking a three- year art course at Trowbridge college. The local countryside is her inspiration and she works from her own photographs, often combining several to create one painting.
Ruth Juneman describes herself as “a bit of a maverick” and has studied under many different tutors. Her style is mainly influenced by Chinese brush painting and she works in several media, including recently, collage. Her work has been exhibited and sold in the UK and abroad for the last 20 years.
Exhibition co-ordinator, Pattie Lockett said, “This month’s exhibition promises to be very interesting, with a variety of subjects and styles to suit everyone’s taste.”
