Another fun-filled ‘stay and play’ session, open to all parents, grandparents and siblings, was enjoyed last month at Daisychain Nursery in Whitley.
Families were free to explore the whole nursery, enjoying units that they would not normally visit and spending time with other families.
They enjoyed ‘getting messy’ with their children as they joined in with unusual painting techniques which included foil, marble, string and puffy painting; many of the babies demonstrated what fun ‘body painting’ can be!
Nursery staff said, “Models were created from recycled resources, this sparked parents’ imagination and all manner of constructions were created. Children showed their families how exciting playdough can be; in nursery we use different textured and scented playdough through homemade, home grown mint, lemon thyme and lavender doughs.
“Parents were fascinated and intrigued with gloop play, experiencing the change in properties when water was added to cornflour and that you can use for shaving foam to make marks. Although there were lots of different coloured and textures resources for sticking, parents were quite surprised to see that much of the enjoyment their children had was through dribbling coloured glue through their fingers.”
