A Melksham church is having two additional bells installed, which will be available for the public to view this week before being hung in the church tower.
The new bells will be installed at St Michael’s Church and feature a cypher in celebration of the Coronation of King Charles III. “We currently have a ‘Ring of 8’ bells which will be augmented to become a ‘Ring of 10’ bells,” said churchwarden Peter Maslen.
The bells will be brought into the church at ground level, where they will be on view to the public on Friday 5th December and Saturday 6th December. The church will be open from 10am to 4pm on Friday and 10am to 12pm on Saturday.
“Members of the public will be able to look and touch the bells as well as talk to bellringers and find out all about bellringing. We regret that we are unable to open the tower to the public, so make sure you come and see them while they are on the ground.”
