A NEW children and families’ worker has been appointed to join the Melksham Team Ministry.
Kate Ocock will fill the position in place of Hannah Tarring who left last year.
Reverend Charlie Thompson said, “We’re delighted to announce the appointment of Kate Ocock as the new children & families’ worker for Melksham Team Ministry! Since the much-loved Hannah Tarring moved onto pastures new at the beginning of last year, we have been praying hard for the right person to join the team, and are thrilled to have Kate on board.
“Originally from Wales, Kate has travelled all over with her husband Steve who is in the army, and now lives in Melksham. As well as being a mother to four children, Kate brings a wealth of experience from her background in primary school teaching and volunteering in church, all underpinned by an infectious enthusiasm to share her faith with others. She loves sport, exercise and good food, and is a sucker for Cadbury’s Dairy Milk!
“Kate will take over the leadership of Sunday Club at St Michael’s, which has seen dramatic growth since relaunching 18 months ago; between 25 and 30 children now join us every Sunday across four different age groups; Scramblers (0 to two), Climbers (two to reception), Explorers (year 1 to year 6) and Youth (year 7+). She will also have the chance to build on links with the schools in the parish, and revitalise the Little Cherubs toddler group.
“Please pray for Kate as she takes up this exciting challenge!”
