ON a gloriously sunny Sunday afternoon on 30th June, the St Barnabas car park was officially opened by Richard Wood, Chair of Melksham Without Parish Council.
The Parish Council lease the play area from the church and grant money annually to assist with the upkeep of the church schoolroom for community use.
Also present and giving short speeches at the opening were Pat Aves, a Trustee of the Melksham Almhouses Charity who donated £1,500 towards the cost, and Mary Hardwidge from Community First who organised a grant from Hills Waste, via the Landfill Tax scheme, of £5,000.
The cost of installing the Grasscrete reinforced concrete central roadway to give a hard surfaced access to the disabled parking area was £21,000 inc VAT.
