A NEW councillor has joined Melksham Without Parish Council after being co-opted to serve the Bowerhill ward.
Cllr Anne Sullivan was co-opted to the council at meeting on Monday 17th June, following the resignation of cllr Andy Russell.
“I have lived in Bowerhill for 21 years and I have a long-standing interest in being a councillor,” cllr Sullivan explained. “I already do volunteer work in my spare time for the Giffords patient participation group and I am also setting up a Friends of Giffords charity.
“I am keen to have a voice on local issues and represent people to try and influence key decisions where I can and also understand local plans for the area moving forward and give people context and facts.
“I know parish councils do not make all the decisions themselves but they are a strong voice in the community and it’s important I am able to speak for others. I am really looking forward to the role.”
The parish council co-opted cllr Sullivan because less than 10 people in the Bowerhill ward requested an election.
