MELKSHAM Cricket Club is on track to get a new £300,000 pavilion this year after its previous changing rooms burned down last summer.
Planning permission has been given for a new pavilion for the club to be built in place of the old one.
It will be slightly larger and a permanent stone building, replacing the 30-year-old wooden structure that was destroyed in 2016, taking with it thousands of pounds worth of equipment. It is expected to cost approximately £330,000 and will be funded as part of Melksham’s campus project.
Club chairman Gary Burns said, “The planning approval is great news for the club and we now look to meet with the council to discuss our next steps.”
The pavilion will have three changing rooms, a club room, toilets, a kitchen and bar area and extra storage.
Building is expected to be completed by August this year. To see the full plans enter reference 16/12202/FUL in the planning search online at www.wiltshire.gov.uk
