Auditions will be held until 16th August at 12.00pm at the Melksham School of Ballet, Tap & Modern. Registration is essential.

Melksham Glee Club will be run by International soprano soloist Lorraine Mahoney who has a wealth of performing and teaching experience.

Lorraine started her performing studies learning ballet, tap and modern. She  performed in professional pantomimes in Ashford (Kent) and Hastings (East Sussex) on numerous occasions. She successfully competed in dance competitions, exams and countless dance shows.

Lorraine is a lyric soprano specialising in lighter choral soloistic work with wide ranging performing experience – roles include ‘Maria’ (West Side Story), ‘Michaela’ (Carmen), ‘Julie’ (Carousel), ‘Eliza’ (My Fair Lady) and ‘Kate Pinkerton’ (Madam Butterfly). She has given recitals across the South of England, won national singing competitions, has adjudicated for music festivals and directed amateur dramatic productions.

She is a qualified teacher and performer herself through Trinity College, London and Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

In 2006, she made her debut with the Perth Oratorio Choir, Australia as soprano soloist for John Rutter’s Requiem and Magnificat together with ‘Songs from the Shows’ with the Perth Concert Band. She returned by invitation in December 2007 as soprano soloist to sing with the Perth Oratorio Choir for Handel’s Messiah and again in October 2009.

In October 2010, she was presented to and sang for HRH The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester at a prestigious anniversary dinner in London, accompanied by The British Imperial Military Band.

Lorraine teaches singing for Wiltshire Music Service in the county schools and runs The Semingtones ladies choir together with the Musical Theatre classes on Saturday mornings in Melksham. For more information, please visit www.WWSPA. co.uk or contact Lorraine on 07730 254122.
