BOWERHILL Primary School has announced that Anna Willcox has officially joined as its new interim principal, following the recent departure of previous head, Rachel Skates.
The White Horse Federation – which manages eight schools in Melksham – said, “Mrs Willcox was previously principal at Forest & Sandridge Primary School, where she spent 15 successful years in the role. During her time at the school, Forest & Sandridge increased their Ofsted rating from Satisfactory to Good while growing the school intake significantly from 226 to 462 total pupils.”
In a letter sent to parents, the new interim principal said she was inspired by “the incredibly hard working, dedicated staff, all of whom play a key role in providing the very best we can for children.”
The new principal wrote, “I am determined to build on the progress that Rachel Skates made during her tenure in creating a successful, vibrant, and nurturing environment for our students and staff. My aim is to put students at the centre of everything we do so they can learn, achieve, have fun, and grow into exceptional young people.”
Prior to joining Bowerhill, Anna has been in education for 25 years. Most recently, she enjoyed a successful stint as interim principal at Moredon Primary School.
Speaking about her latest appointment, she said, “During my temporary post at Bowerhill, I am committed to ensuring a smooth and successful transition to the new substantive head once appointed.
“Through dedication, hard work, and kindness, I’m sure we’ll continue to build on the previous good work of my predecessor and continue to move the school forward.”
Director of primary schools at The White Horse Federation, Simon Cowley, added, “During her time at the federation to date, Anna’s wealth of experience and knowledge has made a significant impact, and this includes her successful period at Forest & Sandridge. Having worked in Melksham for over 15 years, Anna is very familiar with the local area, and I am confident she will ensure continued improvement at Bowerhill during this transition period.”
