A NEWLY refurbished Atworth Youth Centre will be reopening this month.
Following a refurbishment by new operators 4Youth (South West), the centre will be reopening on Saturday 4th September with an open day.
The new team, led by Centre Coordinator Ellie Wright, will be welcoming villagers between 12 noon and 4pm with fun activities, refreshments and information about the new youth clubs that will be running from the centre.
4Youth (South West), formally known as Young Melksham, have been successfully running the Canberra Youth Centre in Melksham for the past five years.
Chair of Trustees, Jon Hubbard, commented “I am delighted that we are going to be delivering new youth activities in Atworth. It’s a fantastic centre and we’ve been able to bring a great new look to the place.
“Our new team, led by Ellie Wright, will be delivering youth activities in the village four nights a week. We can’t wait to get started!”
Atworth Centre Coordinator, Ellie Wright, added “I’m so excited about the new youth clubs we will be running. On Monday evenings our popular SEND youth club, No Limits, will be moving from the Canberra Centre to Atworth.
“On Tuesdays we will be running a Seniors Club for young people in years 8 and up with the centre option between 6.30pm and 9pm. We will have games, activities and music together with an all-new tuck shop with hot snacks and drinks.
“Every Wednesday our team will be out about in the village delivering detached youth work, meeting the young people out and about where they meet, chatting with them and asking what they would like to see in the village and at the youth centre.
“Thursdays will be our dedicated youth club for Years 5, 6 and 7. Running from 6pm to 8pm it will be an evening packed with party games, activities, our amazing tuck shop and café and plenty of opportunity for chat and fun.”
The charity is looking for local residents who would be interested in volunteering at the youth centre to help deliver the club activities.
4Youth Chair, Jon Hubbard, explained “We would be delighted to recruit some volunteers from the community to help us make the youth centre a success. There is a strong tradition of volunteering at the centre and we hope that can continue as this will help us keep a wide range of interesting activities available for our young people.
“It’s not just youth leaders we are looking for, but offers of help with building maintenance, admin work and fundraising would all be amazing. This is the community’s youth centre and we would love the community to be a part of it.”
Visitors attending the open day will all be put into a drawer for a £25 meal voucher kindly donated by The White Hart inn in the village.
