AS they reopened again earlier this month, Candida Hutchinson officially joined Seend Primary School as its new principal.
The school report, “The appointment was announced in May, and Mrs Hutchinson has now joined the school after an initial transition period.
“Candida has worked in education for 27 years. Before joining Seend and St George’s, Candida held two successful headships in Swindon and Reading. She has also more recently worked as assistant primary director at The White Horse Federation.
“In letters to parents, the new principal wrote: ‘I am determined to continue progress, maintain good standards and improving so that we can become an outstanding school.’
“To achieve her vision, Mrs Hutchinson is focused on phonics attainment, and making sure there is adequate challenge for the most able learners.
“Having now been able to join the school, Mrs Hutchinson was impressed with how well the staff, pupils, and parents at both schools have adapted to the new safety measures in place.”
She said, “Both staff and pupils and wider school community have been very welcoming. Staff care and work hard to ensure the best for the whole child, educationally, emotionally and spiritually.”
“Mrs Hutchinson will balance her time between Seend and St George’s Semington according to the needs of both schools.
“She will be supported by Mrs Emma Groom who will remain acting head of school at St George’s, and by Miss Holly Chivers who will remain as senior teacher at Seend.”
